DESTINY
About DESTINY (2020–2026)
DESTINY is an MSCA COFUND doctoral programme that’s redefining how Europe trains the next generation of battery scientists. It brings together universities, large scale research facilities and industry partners to build a truly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment dedicated to advancing sustainable battery technologies.
The programme promotes:

- Alignment with the Battery 2030+ vision
DESTINY2: Expanding the Vision (2026–2031)
DESTINY2 builds on the success of DESTINY, reinforcing Europe’s leadership in next-generation energy storage. It offers an integrated, Europe‑wide training ecosystem combining materials science, electrochemistry, modelling, engineering and industrial innovation.
The consortium advances research in:
- Electro‑mobility
- Large‑scale energy storage
- Advanced materials and interfaces
- Digital and AI‑enabled methods
- Sustainable and circular battery technologies
Together, DESTINY and DESTINY2 are helping build the highly skilled scientific workforce Europe needs to drive the energy transition forward. By bringing together leading universities, large‑scale research infrastructures and key industrial partners, the programmes foster a lasting ecosystem designed to support scientific breakthroughs and long term innovation.
